The mangroves add a second layer. Shaded glass on the bay side stays damp, mildew grows along the bottom edge of the sliders and around the screen frames, and the no-see-ums in the shoulder months stick to any window with a light on behind it. The old cottages often have jalousie and awning windows, which take longer and need care.
